What is the World Dog Show?
The World Dog Show is the most prestigious and largest canine event in the world. It is organized annually by the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) in collaboration with the national kennel club of the host country (such as the AKC for the US or the ENCI for Italy).
Key Features
The Scale: The event regularly attracts tens of thousands of dogs (often between 15,000 and 30,000 entries) from dozens of countries, representing hundreds of recognized breeds.
Titles at Stake: This is the event where the highly coveted title of World Winner (World Champion) is awarded for each breed, across adult, junior, and veteran categories.
The Best in Show: The climax of the event is the Best in Show competition, where the single best dog of the entire event is selected.

Beyond Conformation

In addition to the traditional beauty (conformation) rings, the World Dog Show often hosts the world championships for various canine sports, including:
Agility
Obedience
Dog Dancing (Musical Freestyle)
Junior Handling (a competition dedicated to young handlers)

The host country is selected several years in advance by the FCI General Assembly, making this event a truly itinerant "Olympics for dogs."
